I’m in love. It’s stunning. So, let me explain: I love ginger hair – I’ve been dying my hair ginger since approx. Nov/Dec 2020. Long story short, I went to a salon, the hairstylist did a terrible job, I went to a different one, same story… I hate salons, they don’t know how to give me what I want. When I say ginger I mean orange, not strawberry blonde, not reddish brown – orange. Anyway, since those two failed attempts, I’ve been trying different at home custom hair dye companies and having my fiancé dye my hair because he listens and is willing do to it for me. I loved Color&Co, but they went out of business, so I tried Madison Reed, but their ginger was more red, so I hated it. I finally stumbled on Igora Royal and it’s amazing, however, I dye my hair about every 8-10 weeks instead of 4-6 because we’re lazy and what happened was last time two 60ml tubes were enough, but I started to grow out my hair since the last time I dyed it and basically two tubes was def not enough and I chose the lighter ginger color whereas I used one light copper one darker copper the first time and I loved it. So we didn’t have enough dye and on my first ever salon visit, the stylist gave me highlights, which now are impossible to cover with color the right way. So basically, I had light orange roots, with almost blonde mid to ends. Not great right before a party on the weekend. So I quickly ordered these Adore Semi-Permanent hair dyes and I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew I wanted the ginger color – I bought two bottles. Except it looked kinda light so I also got one bottle of Orange Sunrise to deepen it a bit. Two days after the permanent dye, when I dyed my hair, I used one bottle of ginger and probably maybe 1-2 tablespoons of Orange Sunrise, so it wouldn’t get too dark. The photo you see is the result. It’s so intense, it’s amazing. I can’t even get that with the permanent dye sometimes. This one was also easier to apply by myself. I’m even thinking of doing it every month with this dye instead of buying permanent, but I can’t comment on how long it’ll last since I haven’t washed it yet since dying it. Also, I don’t know what it’ll look like on my natural (medium) brown roots when they grow out again. It might not end up dying it the same color and not work. It worked this time cause my roots were already ginger from the permanent dye. I didn’t feel/see any damage after using it right after permanent dye. Finally, I did use it on wet hair (towel dried) and the color result is amazing. I saw some people say it didn’t work for them unless they did it on dry hair. And I want to mention, whenever I dye my hair, I wrap it in aluminum foil and then a plastic grocery bag on top to add heat, hence why it might have gotten so intense (waited 30 mins before washing). Anyway, thanks for coming to my Ted talk! My new fav semi permanent dye and I’ve never used one before!

Went into the weekend with a plan to bleach and tone my hair by myself. Unfortunately for me, my hair has been bleached in random places over the course of years, so achieving a consistent color solo was near impossible. I ordered the 3-pack of Mahogany just in case things went awry and I’m so glad I did.
I like my hair light, especially for the summer, so I was initially regretting buying such a deep brown. After the hair lightening though, applying Mahogany gave my poorly bleached and toned locs a really pretty shade of brown that’s medium and warm in the sun and deep in regular/low light. It’s so pretty!! And evenly applied to achieve a harmonious color throughout. I used some leftover Kiss Tintations in Red Berry on my bangs, but 100% recommend Adore more for longevity and even coverage. In fact, I had such a hard time bleaching because I used Adore in Paprika months ago and I still unknowingly had some red dye in my hair! I’m such a fan of this brand, I’ll probably buy more Mahogany when this fades and try out different colors for my bangs 🙂

I exclusively use Adore to color my hair. Aquamarine, electric line, neon pink, orange blaze have all been excellent. I’ve used truly red, violet gem, and purple rage, too. They fade a little faster. I usually leave in for a few hours to let it really set in before washing out. I love this brand.
And then…. I was super excited to be in my Lavender Haze era this summer……. two coats at three hours each, and it is NOT covering but in patches. It’s bad. I can’t even wear my hair down right now. I usually bleach with manic panic, and haven’t had any problems previously. I don’t know what’s wrong with the lavender. 😭

I am a licensed cosmetologist, a colorist, and here’s what I’ve learned about adore hair dye. I’ve used this product many many MANY times in many many MANY ways on myself and on clients. I like it better than some professional products. Recently, I used the color mocha to tone my hair. I had colored it neon yellow months ago. It’s turned weird and It was time to tone it down. I was going for 7N…that’s basically dark blonde/light brown…ish. The mocha was actually green toned but I’ve only seen it red toned. So that was weird. I’m glad about it tho because I was worried it would come out too warm because of my already yellow undertones. I put almost a full bottle in a bowl of water, stirred it, put my dry hair in pig tails and dunked each pig tail in for 10 seconds and washed my hair. That’s how you get a small change…unless you’re pale cool light blonde. Be careful and don’t use colors with green undertones (darkest brown) on very pale light blonde hair unless you’re using a punky green to achieve green hair. If you’re blonde or ashy and want dark brown hair, add copper to your hair first. dark Green cancels out warmth like red and orange. Use the color darkest brown to kill warmth….that’s why it’s green. Use it on warmer shaded of hair and you’ll get dark brown. If you put the product directly on damp hair and let it sit, your color will be more drastic. If you put it on dry hair it will really really take in a bold way and last longer. Use your color wheel and common sense. Mix shades and test them first. This dye is great for people with damaged hair! If box color isn’t grabbing because you’ve colored it to much…yeah you know who you are….adore is what you need to use. It will thicken and condition damaged hair. Some colors fade quicker than others. You can’t have it all. It will stain everything it touches instantly including your skin, sink, towels…When in doubt, strand test! You can not go lighter with this, only darker or brighter and different. It’s not the best for covering natural grey hair unless it’s been bleached. You’re best off using a permanent color because natural grey/white hair is resistant. Peroxide is needed to open that hair cuticle to let the color in. Keep this in mind, there’s a color scale from 1-10. 1 being black and 10 being light blond. Your hair took time to lift from 1 to 10 when you bleached it….yeah you know who you are. It went through stages of colors during that process. If you want your color to turn out right, not fade weird and last longer…consider coloring your hair first a shade between what you are now and what you want your final color to be. I see some people having problems with adore because they are skipping this step. This goes mostly for natural colors. I hope that makes sense and helps someone!😅
